The Ford Explorer is one of the best known sport utility vehicles on the market. Not anymore. Beginning with the 2011 model, the Explorer has crossed over from being a truck based SUV to a car based SUV or what is best known as a Crossover model.

No matter, the all new Explorer is almost as big and heavy as the model it replaces, but with one significant difference: the model loses its optional V-8 engine and gains an optional four-cylinder engine. Yes, Ford is using modern powerplant technology to offer a twin-injection turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as an option to give customers a fuel efficient option not offered by anyone else in this class.

2010 Maserati Spyder

These are the first spy photos of the upcoming 2010 Maserati Spyder. It's based on the recently introduced Gran Turismo coupe and it appears as though the Spyder will switch to a hardtop configuration. We never liked the odd proportions of the previous Spyder, so this revised version should offer a significant improvement in the styling department. The new roof should help it to maintain the GT's lines despite its shorter, two-seat configuration. Expect to see the same 405hp V8 used in the Gran Turismo under the hood of the Spyder when it goes on sale in 2009...

2009 Maserati Granturismo Review

Maserati's new Gran Turismo S is a performance-oriented version of the two-door coupe. It features a larger-displacement V-8 engine that makes 440 horsepower, which is 35 hp more than the regular Gran Turismo's V-8. The S also gets Maserati's duo-select six-speed automated manual transmission with paddle shifters in place of the six-speed automatic that the standard model uses.

The new drivetrain propels the car from zero to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds on the way to a top speed of 183 mph, according to the company. The task of stopping this sports car falls to a high-performance brake system that features six-piston front calipers.

Exterior differences between the two versions of the Gran Turismo are minor, like a red stripe on the grille trident of the S, but the car does take on a particularly menacing aura when painted black with dark gray rims, like the car in the photos. It also features a sport exhaust system. On the inside, the S has new sport seats finished in leather and Alcantara fabric.

Designed and developed by QuickSilver to provide a sound that meets the enthusiast drivers expectations. Th Maserati GranTurismo System is now available.

At QuickSilver, we have developed a stainless steel system to allow an increase in volume and pitch as the rev’s increase. The QuickSilver system can be used regularly around town, allowing conversation and listening to the radio - as the revs increase the note rises and the volume increases. At moderate pace it does not spoil the luxury of this Maserati but at higher engine speeds the V8 engine takes on a more sporting note to suit the nature of the Maserati badge.
