Next month’s Tokyo Motor Show will see Mazda unveil a load of new cool things, including their next generation engine and automatic transmission units. The new SKY-G petrol engine is designed to reduce mechanical friction, as well as achieve an optimal air-fuel mixture. There will be a new direct-injection system on the SKY-G petrol engine, and it is expected to have an improvement of around 15 percent in the torque department.
Displacement on the engine will be 2.0-litres, and this means that it is usable in most of the new cars.
The SKY-D engine will be a diesel engine with reduced fuel economy, and low exhaust emissions. There will be a new engine block for reduced friction, similar to that of a normal petrol engine. This motor will have piezo injection, a two-stage turbocharger and other technologies to achieve a 20 percent increase in fuel consumption.
The last thing that the company will reveal is the new SKY-Drive automatic gearbox that will improve fuel economy by around 5 percent when compared to the current gearboxes.
