2012 Ford Police Interceptor complete information with pictures

The Blue Oval has released the first images of the 2012 Ford Police Interceptor as it was previewed in Las Vegas. The 2012 Ford Police Interceptor is based on the Taurus and will replace the current Crown Victoria.

The 2012 Ford Police Interceptor will be in service in two versions, a basic version and a high performance model for the highway patrol. The less powerful version of the 2012 Ford Police Interceptor will have front wheel drive and a 3.5-liter V6 engine while the performance model will have the 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 engine and probably all-wheel drive. The highway patrol 2012 Ford Police Interceptor will probably have the same powertrain as the SHO.

Kia is busy at this year’s New York auto show, debuting the redesigned Sportage, the new Forte hatchback, and the all-new Optima sedan detailed here.

While preliminary sketches suggested an Optima with a hot-rod chop to the roof, the production version has less-severe proportions and windows out of which people can actually see. Longer (by 1.7 inches), lower (by an inch), and wider (by 0.9 inch) than the outgoing car, the Optima forms a much more dramatic shape than the model it replaces, yet its shape is not as commanding as that of its platform-mate, Hyundai’s suddenly smokin’ Sonata.

If the shape of the Optima isn’t quite as sultry as the Sonata’s, the powertrains will be precisely as stimulating, because they’ll be shared. A direct-injection, 2.4-liter inline-four is the standard engine, available in the base LX trim with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. A direct-injection, turbocharged four is the hot mill, with a whopping 274 horses from just 2.0 liters. Sadly, that engine will only be available with the automatic. And like the Sonata, the Optima will yield a hybrid option early in 2011. The suspension, too, is shared with the Sonata, with MacPherson struts, coil springs, and an anti-roll bar up front and a multilink setup with coils in back.

2012 Nissan Quest

2011 Toyota Sienna and forthcoming redesigned Honda Odyssey, Nissan is working on the next iteration of its Quest minivan. Details are still sparse, but we do know that the next Quest will be on sale in early 2011. Until more info arrives, we have this teaser image which suggests a larger grille and narrower headlights than the current model.

The current Quest was too quirky for many buyers when first introduced in 2004; by 2007, Nissan engineers had redesigned it with a more conventional interior. Even so, the Quest was never a strong seller. It finished fourth out of five entries in our most recent minivan comparo, struggling in part due to its still-awkward interior ergonomics.
